Almost a whole year!

Well, I'm simply awful. A whole year since I posted anything the either one of my blogs. I think this one is started off better than the "Newsom Nest." So, I suppose I will continue writing here. Since I last posted, we have added a new addition to our family, Carter has started Kindergarten, Laine and Brooke have both had little ones and I now drive a minivan. All of these things are big if you know us! The picture is one of few family photos we have and in this particular one, Carter has been awarded the Panda Pride certificate for the month of September at school for being such a good girl. We are very proud. Carter loves school and having us both there as her teachers.

At this very moment, we are about to go get breakfast. It is Saturday morning and all are still in PJ's watching Mickey Mouse. Times are good. Both are about to put on their "running" clothes and run around the house. Collier is just laying here watching it all unfold. I will try to be better at posting here about the happenings at my house!

Christmas Tree

It's the day we've all been waiting for. We are putting up our Christmas tree(s) today! Although everyone is excited, it causes me to reflect on how FAST Christmases seem to get here. I couldn't help but remember some of my own childhood memories from when I was a little girl and how my parents made Christmas magical and special... and yet, we turned around twice and I'm grown up having Christmas for my children. Even though it is the happiest time of year, I'm so sentimental that I can't help but be sad for all the years gone by. Although I can't remember a truly blue Christmas, I am sad that time passes so quickly on this Earth and before I turn around twice again, my children will be having babies of their own and putting up their own Christmas trees at their houses and I'll once again be sad for all the years gone by.

I suppose I've always put myself through this sort of thing.

Mommy Moments.....

Today is Monday, November 1, 2010. This is my new diary so that I can record all my mommy moments... I'm afraid that as they days drag by, the years are flying and before I know it... they will be off to college. I just hope I have preserved all the memories possible. So, here is the first of my post. AS you can see in the pic, we are all still in our pj's. Carter in her purple princess pj's and Cale in his red racecar pjs. We are having a lazy Monday morning and all are skipping school. Watching the Grinch, the Christmas spirit has already hit our house, as it usually does hit early here. The kids are still sorting through all of their Halloween candy and as hard as I try, I'm sure they have eaten too much. After breakfast this morning, they each got to pick one thing. Cale ate skittles and Carter chose an airhead.

We had a great weekend at home although it was busy with Halloween and all. We also had my cousin Layla here from TX. I need to post a halloween pic! Cale was such a wonderfully tough Spiderman and Carter was a beautiful Delta State cheerleader!

Clint is working hard at school this morning while we are all being lazy. I am going to start recording all their cute sayings and funny happenings through here. My prayer is that I will be faithful at this and in years to come, my children will enjoy reading about themselves.

For instance, just now I went into Cale's room to turn on his light and Carter wanted to pull the light cord from the fan... as Cale runs in his room and shouts... YOU SAVED MY WITE.

Other Cale-isms include: peanut bwutter, "Mommy, where you are?" and "I'm a homerun." "I thought you was lost" and he loves to drink spwite.

Carter isms include: candy came, binoclears, "being an artist" and callapitter

A Truly Blonde Moment.
I have these alot. Those times when God speaks to me in such an obvious way that I feel saying, Duh, you're such a blonde." Anyone else? Well, I feel like God is telling me to write my thoughts down and I couldn't think of a better way than through a blog. This way, I can hold myself accountable to my blonde moments!

I was reading Revelations earlier and I came to the passage that reads, They willsee his face, and his name will be on there foreheads. There will be nor more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light and they will reign forever and ever. Rev. 22:4-5

For me, the night can be a time of peaceful sleep, or it can be just the opposite. A time of great anxiety, loneliness, and fear. It seems I'm loneliest in the night when everyone else in my house is soundly sleeping. Something about the darkness, the thick darkness that feels like you could literally cut it with a knife..... the quiet. Why are we so scared of the quiet in this day and age? We are. In the darkest hours, I'm afraid of the quiet. Not so sure if I'm afraid of what I will hear or won't hear. There haven't been many nights that I have seen 2 am, 3am, 4am... but the times I have (especially with my newborn babies), have been fearful. I would almost fear the night and anxiously await the rising of the sun. Such is true in my Christian walk, when I am away from God in the cold, dark night... it may seem okay for a while... but eventually I start to see that this is not where I belong. The darkness doesn't feel like home. As I came to these verses, they reassured me that my Heavenly Home will never don nightfall. We will not even need the sun.
